Another charge-sheet against
Salman Khan in black bucks case

Kamla Bora in Jaipur

Another charge-sheet has been filed against Bollywood actor Salman Khan in a local court in Jodhpur for hunting protected wild animals two years ago, while shooting for Suraj Barjatya's film Hum Saath Saath Hain.

The charge-sheet was filed by the police on Monday, in the court of the additional judicial magistrate, as Khan use illegal arms in hunting black bucks in the area falling under Luni police station, about 60 km from Jodhpur.

The police had recovered a revolver and a rifle from the actor after his arrest in the hunting case. The licence of the arms had expired, which led to the registration of a police case under the Arms Act against him.

Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam were arrested in Jodhpur two years back for hunting protected wild animals and are now facing criminal charges under the Wildlife Protection Act in local courts.

Although the others were released on bail immediately, main accused Salman Khan remained in custody for about a week, before getting bail in various cases.

Three charge-sheets, under the Wildlife Protection Act, had been filed against Salman Khan and others in lower courts over the last two years.

The fourth, filed on Monday, relates to the Arms Act. It took two years for the Luni police to complete investigations, for which the forensic science laboratory of the police in Jaipur evaluated the arms and held that they were powerful enough to kill animals.

Salman Khan was not present in court when the charge-sheet was filed against him. His counsel Hastimal Saraswat told Additional Judicial Magistrate Ajay Singh that since he had been granted permanent leave from attending court hearings in three other cases, he should also be permitted to get leave from personal attendance in this case too. The request was granted by the magistrate, who fixed December 2 for arguments on the charges.

The prosecution has listed 19 witnesses in the charge-sheet, in support of its case. The arms seized from Salman Khan were released by the court early this year.
